Unlearn

(The Past)

The gaps between a designer and a user lie between the assumptions and challenges. Most of the time the conversation ends up asking the “Why?”. Design has never been linear, the infinite loop where competency, complexity and chaos blend together in a design at the same time wanting to define the idea of “Simple”. As a designer am I  learning to grow with the world or trying to Unlearn what the world wants to teach me?

Every question has its solution, but in my design sphere it's the in between that matters the most. It’s how Alan Fletcher, a British Graphic Designer once said “Design is not a thing you do. It’s a way of life.” Fixating on the outcome, the idea of experimenting and taking the risk is left out, just like life. Failing in a design concept where the practical and metaphorical world can consume us, a step backward in the process, unlearning that stage can help spark the missing. The biggest question was never, the “WHY?” but the “WHY NOT?” Why not begin somewhere, learn and unlearn, rather than not start at all.
